I recently had the opportunity to visit Sedona, Arizona again. Once again the weather provided some great clouds and wonderful light. I am still away from home and looking forward to opening the photos I captured into Lightroom and process them. I can't wait.

My wife and I had the opportunity to go to the Island of Maui, Hawaii last August. There was a nice sunset the first night we were there but I did not have my camera out since we just arrived. The rest of the week was a wash when it came to sunset time due to rain. The last night was a spectacular sunset. I sat on a grassy area with my Canon 6d on a tripod and just watched as the sunset began to happen. Sometimes being at the right place at the right time pays off.

It is a five hour journey from California to Kauai, Hawaii and a three hour time difference (in the summer). On the first morning of my recent trip, I was up at 4:00 Hawaii time and ready to go. It seemed appropriate to go watch the sun come up. I am usually not up at sunrise and have a tendency to photograph a lot more sunsets. Since I was on the West side of Kauai, a sunrise was perfect. There had been a recent hurricane that threatened the island for awhile but stayed to the West and North of the island. It made for a really terrific sunrise. This was photographed with a Canon 6d at f11, 24mm, ISO 200, 1/100 of a second.

It was an extraordinary evening in Brookings, Oregon. Smoke from an inland fire made it's way to the coast and went out to sea making for a golden sunset. I decided a panorama would make what I saw come alive in print. I shot this at f22, ISO 100, 24mm, for 1/6 second with a Canon 6d.

It was an amazing evening in Brookings on a recent trip to the Oregon Coast. There was smoke from an inland fire blowing out to sea causing a wonderful golden glow. The wind was blowing moderately causing ripples in the sand. I captured this shot focusing on the sand and allowed the background to be a little out of focus. I wanted to emphasize the sand but not exclude the beautiful ocean and rock.

For the month of June, I will be exhibiting my photography at the Lassen County Arts Council. It is located at 807 Cottage Street in Susanville, California. Open House will be Tuesday, June 9th at 5:30 PM.

From August 8th thru September 11th, 2014 I will be exhibiting my photography at the Artisan Coffee in Janesville, Northern California. It is located at the corner of Hwy 395 and Church St. This is my fourth showing here. Open house will be Friday August 15, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Anyone who is in the area, please stop in. Janesville is South of my hometown of Susanville and is 75 miles North of Reno along Hwy 395. I do not plan to be there all of the time, but if any of my friends from FAA are going to be in the area, contact me through FAA and maybe we can meet and have a cup of coffee at the Artisan.
